Nestled in the heart of Dorset, Sculpture by the Lakes is an internationally acclaimed botanic garden and art venue. Thought-provoking sculpture displays and meticulously curated gardens come together across its 26 acres for a truly tranquil experience. Photography Workshops with Scott Macintyre

Discover the world of nature and wildlife under a new lens with expert-led photography workshops by Scott Macintyre.

Scott was awarded ‘Historical Photographer of the Year’ by Historic England in 2023. He’s also currently a finalist in the ‘Trees, Woods, and Forests’ category at this year’s International Garden Photographer of the Year Awards.

The day-long photography workshops at Sculpture by the Lakes are tailored for both beginners and seasoned photographers, focusing on techniques to shoot stunning landscapes and intricate species. With hands-on guidance in a picturesque setting, participants are sure to leave with both improved skills and a collection of beautiful images.

Indulge in peace and tranquillity at Sanctuary Retreat Days at Sculpture by the Lakes. These sessions combine the soothing practices of yoga and meditation with the restorative power of nature. Those taking part can unwind by the lakes and take part in holistic workshops designed to rejuvenate the mind, body, and spirit.

 

The day-long course includes interactive healing activities such as a sound bath, guided meditation, and Qi Jong as well as quiet moments for reflection and learning. Enjoy a day of peace and grounding surrounded by beautiful gardens and sculptures.

Paws Around The Park

Date: Saturday 28th September 2024

Time: All day

Cost: Free

 

Join Sculpture by the Lakes in celebrating all four-legged friends in this day-long festival of dogs. The event is inspired by Nepal’s Kukur Tihar Festival, an annual Hindu tradition of worshipping canines.

 

Paws Around The Park will include an array of stalls selling dog ‘pawraphernalia’ like treats and accessories, and chances for beloved canines to win special prizes.

 

Paws Around The Park will take place across Sculpture by the Lakes’ 26 acres of beautiful gardens, with plenty of wildlife to be enjoyed by humans and dogs alike.

Wild Wednesdays

Dates: Bi-weekly Wednesdays

Time: 9am – 12pm

Cost: £22.50

 

Learn about the important work being done at Sculpture by the Lakes to preserve and encourage its thriving ecosystem. The session is led by Wildlife Officer, Rebecca Porter, who will take participants through the extensive biodiversity monitoring program.

 

The ticket includes hands-on involvement as you uncover beautiful, intriguing insect species on-site including moths, rare bees and dragonflies, learn about the park’s many conservation initiatives, and enjoy guided walks through the botanic gardens.

 

The cost of the ticket will also go toward food and a hot drink from Sculpture by the Lakes’ Makers Yard Kitchen café.

Into The Wild Exhibition at The Gallery

Into The Wild is an upcoming exhibition at The Makers Yard Gallery, including exceptional works from various international and local artists which focus on capturing the untamed wild.

 

Each piece has been chosen and curated to celebrate the earth, from wildlife to plant life, emulating the seamless partnership of art and nature found at Sculpture by the Lakes. The exhibition is designed to give visitors an exclusive look into how the artists see and connect with the natural world and provide a fresh perspective on modern day life.
