Following the sell-out 2022 tour of Next Slide Please, the comedian, broadcaster, writer and campaigner returns to Lighthouse Poole on Saturday 5 October with an evening to celebrate the publication of her new novel, Friends of Dorothy.
The show, touring to 14 towns and cities this autumn, will be packed with silly stories, profound truths, fascinating facts, a quick-fire Q&A and Sandi reading from her new novel to give fans an inside peak at her creative process. Sandi always takes a playful approach to her live audience and the show will include at least one interactive game with a stylish Toksvig t-shirt as a prize.
Friends of Dorothy is published on 26 September and each ticket for the show includes a hardback copy to be collected at the theatre.
Life affirming, wise and funny, Sandi investigates what it really means to be a ‘Friend of Dorothy’.
About the book: The new novel from the star of QI and the author of Between the Stops. After much searching, the happily married young couple, Amber and Stevie, think they have found the perfect spot in Grimaldi Square. Number 4 is the house of their dreams. But … upstairs in their new home, seated on an old red sofa is the woman they bought the place from – 79-year-old, foul-mouthed, straight-talking, wise-cracking Dorothy – who has decided that she’s not going anywhere. Dorothy will be only the first in a line of life-changing surprises.
Friends of Dorothy is a funny, touching novel about a family that is not biological, but logical; a story close to Sandi Toksvig’s heart.
“It is always a pleasure to spend time in one of Sandi Toksvig's novels. Warm, witty and wise, Friends of Dorothy is no exception. The perfect balm for these turbulent times.” Graham Norton
