MC Plan and Site Services are proud to sponsor the newly established Tritons Touring Veterans, whose inaugural tour earlier this month saw them travel to East Africa and face teams in Tanzania, Uganda and Kenya.
This Veterans’ team, comprised of, in their own words, “misfits and seasoned adventurers” and each match provided inspiring games of rugby, forming lasting bonds and camaraderie across the countries visited.
In Tanzania and Uganda, the players hosted youth development sessions and donated official ties, rugby kits and balls to the local team.
Possessing the necessary sense of humour required to be a rugby player, especially a Vet, Tritons have disrupted the world of rugby by unveiling a novel way to avoid yellow cards - by all wearing the same number: 33.
The number 33 is significant to the Tritons because, they go on tour every 33 years and each tour is organised by a committee of 3 and the minimum age for players is 33.
During their East Africa tour, which ran from 1st to 10th of November, they visited 3 countries, playing one match in each. A total of 3 matches were played.
So what does the future hold for these stalwarts of the game? Looking ahead, plans are already afoot for next year's tour and the Tritons are looking forward to more clashes and additional youth outreach programs.
Tour Manager, Tony Dunkerley said: “On behalf of everyone at Tritons, I would like to extend our deepest gratitude to MC Plan for their invaluable sponsorship of our recent East Africa Rugby Tour. This unforgettable journey would not have been possible without their support, and we’re thrilled to share just how much of a positive impact it has made.”
Mark Cook, Managing Director of MC Plan & Site Services, said; “We are always delighted to support community projects and already sponsor many teams including Poole Town Ladies FC and Team GB in the STIHL Timbersports challenge in France last month.
“We are absolutely thrilled to now also sponsor the Tritons Touring Veterans and are very impressed by the positivity they bring to the communities they visited, especially their youth outreach programs.
“We look forward to next year’s tour with baited breath.”
