Haskins Ferndown hosted a special performance on Wednesday from local 1940s singing duo, the Land Girls, in support of SPRING – part of University Hospitals Dorset NHS Charity.
The Dorset-based performers donned authentic costumes and sang a medley of renowned wartime hits. Haskins’ catering team prepared a cream tea for guests to enjoy during the interval.
Profits from ticket sales went to SPRING, Haskins Ferndown’s chosen charity for 2024. SPRING is a family support service that provides a high level of care to families that have experienced baby loss, working closely with medical professionals to offer bespoke assistance.
Marc Etheridge, General Manager at Haskins, said: “We were delighted to welcome the Land Girls back to Ferndown for another sold-out event. Their previous performance proved hugely popular with everyone who attended, and our customers loved their latest show.
“We’re proud to support SPRING throughout the year with various fundraising initiatives. The charity does a tremendous amount of work supporting local families, and the whole team at Ferndown is proud to be championing this meaningful cause in 2024.”
SPRING Steering Group member, Louise Chissell said: “It was amazing to see Haskins hosting such a fun and fantastic evening in support of SPRING. These fundraisers help us continue to provide the vital support needed for parents and relatives who face the unimaginable loss of a baby at any stage of pregnancy.
“We cannot help parents across Dorset without the support of the local community. I would like to say thank you to everybody who came to Haskins and donated towards SPRING. Each donation makes such a difference to how parents face and navigate life after a bereavement.”
As part of its ongoing commitment to supporting local charities, Haskins Ferndown also supported Forest Holme Hospice by donating 80 bedding plants for the care facility’s ‘Tie a Yellow Ribbon Day’. Children attending at Poole Park were invited to plant the bedding in memory of friends or family. The garden centre has also recently provided benches to High Mead Community Therapy Farm, for use by the animal and horticultural teams at the site.
A second charity concert evening, supporting SPRING and presented by the Love Soul Choir, will take place at Haskins Ferndown later this year. Please visit www.haskins.co.uk for information on Haskins’s charitable services.
