Family brewer, Hall & Woodhouse (H&W), is rolling out its innovative pop-up ‘pub structure’ at a wide range of events across the south after receiving a positive response to the initiative in 2023.
The ‘Pub Inn a Field’ concept will bring the brewer’s signature, traditional pub atmosphere and high-quality customer service to a variety of events this spring and summer for festival-goers to enjoy the familiar H&W experience of their favourite local.
‘Pub Inn a Field’ is an experiential bar complete with a beer garden and décor typically seen in H&W’s pubs. The transportable pub will be run by H&W’s own team and serve a range of beverages including its very own Badger Beers and Outland craft beer.
The touring pub kicked off the festival season at The Dorset Spring Show and will next appear at The Cheese & Chilli Festival in Hurn, Dorset, on Saturday May 18. The family-friendly event will provide locals with the chance to enjoy a Badger beer or pint of Outland with their cheese and chilli. The festival will be held over multiple weekends in four different locations across the south.
Heidi McLaughlin, Visitor & Experience Manager at Hall & Woodhouse, said: “Hall & Woodhouse’s core purpose as a business is to make people’s day and I’m looking forward to bringing our amazing, portable pub to a whole new audience. Last year, we sold over 30,000 pints of our own brewed Badger beer and were able to save 1,083 kg of plastic by introducing reusable cups. This means our events are not only having a positive impact on people’s day, but also on the planet.
“At previous festivals where we served our in-demand Badger Ales, there was a maximum wait time of four minutes from joining the queue, to having a pint in hand. With ‘Pub Inn a Field’, we’re working hard to ensure we enhance the festival experience to make it unlike a typical event bar.”
H&W has expanded its schedule of events to include additional regions across the south this year. The brewer will attend High Tide Festival for the first time with ‘Pub Inn a Field’ and as a sponsor. The one-day music festival will take place on Sunday, July 28 in Twickenham. Later this autumn, H&W will make its debut appearance at Guildford Lions Firework Fiesta, a community event raising money for local charity.
Fans of H&W can still expect to enjoy a Badger beer at its regular schedule of annual events, including The Bath & West Show (30 May – 1 June), Tank Fest (28 – 30 June), Ellingham Show (10 August), Dorset Seafood Festival (7 – 8 September) and Dorset County Show (7 – 8 September).
The independent family brewer will also host its annual Dorset Beer Festival, which runs from 21 – 22 June, at its Brewery in Blandford. The event includes live music, freshly prepared food, and a variety of over 50 casting kegs of beer to try on the day. Profits from the weekend will be donated to The Huntington’s Disease Association.
