Since meeting on stage in London, Scottish songwriter/fingerstyle guitarist Adam Beattie and multi-platinum Canadian-British singer-songwriter Fiona Bevan – who play Lighthouse Poole on Wednesday 15 May – have been singing in close harmony and accompanying each other on guitar, piano and bass.

Adam Beattie’s new album, Home Fires Burning, is a homespun epic which explores family, legacy and an evolving relationship to his hometown of Inverurie, in the north east of Scotland. The songs are connected by a narrative that echoes the classic ‘hero’s journey’ of departure, adventure and the return home.

With melodies inspired by the traditional fiddle tunes of his childhood, played on finger-picked acoustic guitar, we are cinematically transported to Scotland. Beattie invites us to get to know his Mum and Dad, and it makes us think about our own families. It’s a very personal story with great universal appeal, reflecting on what really matters, delivered in Beattie’s trademark timeless, lyrical, mesmerising sound.

The tour also celebrates the release of Fiona Bevan’s upcoming EP, First Woman On The Moon, a set of brand new songs exploring borders, hope, love, sex and femaleness against a political backdrop. The EP beckons us deeper into the cinematic dream-folk she created in her most recent record, Girl With Telescope.
