Exhibition Dates: From 25th October 2024 at Coda

Lists: A Lost & Found, is a brand-new, thought-provoking exhibition by artist Kyleigh Orlebar at Coda. Opening to the public on 25th October, this exhibition delves into the art of the list – something seemingly ordinary, which can also prove deeply personal and revealing.

Whether they are “to do” lists for organising our lives, or for mundane tasks like shopping, in Lists: A Lost & Found, Kyleigh Orlebar explores the everyday practice of list-making. For the past 20 years, Kyleigh has been curating a unique collection of lists - those lost and found, public and private, each telling a story about its creator. Now, she shares some of her most treasured finds in this exhibition, showcasing the humour, humanity and individuality behind lists.

As the festive season approaches and list-making becomes a ritual for many of us, Lists: A Lost & Found will resonate even more strongly. Visitors to the exhibition are also invited to contribute their own lists, which will become part of this evolving collection.

Kyleigh Orlebar is a talented papercut artist who creates unique designs from her home studio in Dorset and teaches joyful papercutting workshops across the region (including Halloween garland and Christmas decoration workshops at Coda in October and December). Her book “Papercutting Tips and Techniques” is a guide to all things papercutting: from choosing the right paper and scalpel to the best ways to display a papercut. It is packed with advice, practice sheets and designs and is available to buy from kyleighspapercuts.co.uk.

Event Details:

  • Exhibition dates: 25th October – end of the year

  • Location: Coda, Chewton Farm Road, Walkford, Christchurch, BH23 5QL

Alongside this exhibition, Coda is also excited to offer a creative Halloween workshop for children (aged 8+) called “Which Witch”, led by Emily Stracey, which will be taking inspiration from the exhibits to create mystery shopping lists and the mystical characters they belong to through sculpting from cardboard and other materials.

Lists: A Lost and Found is exhibited at the new gallery space at Coda where, over the past 12 months, there have been significant changes. With almost one million pounds of investment from public and private funders, including Arts Council England, New Forest District Council, Talbot Village Trust, Sovereign Housing and many individual donors, the local charity has transformed its old farm site to create a range of beautiful facilities in which to learn and play.

From music lessons, groups and ensembles to a whole new programme of exhibitions, art classes and workshops, Coda is becoming a unique local space for creativity, welcoming everyone in the community.

Alongside its learning programmes, the charity is also known for using music and the arts to support wellbeing. Its creative therapy programmes have successfully reached out into the community for many years, supporting mental health, helping those in old age and with dementia and people with disabilities. The beautiful new development at Coda now provides accessible, inclusive facilities and equipment to expand this work alongside a whole new programme of activities to explore your creativity: from after school ceramic clubs and drawing groups, to exhibitions and artist’s studios.

We look forward to welcoming you to Lists: A Lost & Found - a celebration of the simple list. Don’t forget to bring your own list to share!
