The thought of changing your career might seem a bit scary at first, but gone are the days of staying in the same job within the same company until you retire.

In this day and age, the average person changes their career at least five times.  If you’re feeling a little fed up with your current position today, take a read of our advice before making the decision to change jobs.

Give some thought as to what you don’t like about your current job.  Is it the Company, the job itself, the type of organisation you work for, its culture or maybe your manager?

Think about why you joined the Company in the first place and what you liked about the position you were offered.

Make a list of your strengths and your weaknesses.

What interests do you have outside of work? It’s amazing how hobbies can link into the corporate world.

What would your dream job be? Match your perfect job to your strengths/weaknesses, specific job roles, relevant industries, size of company, etc

Make a plan and start writing it down - whether paper, tablet, computer - it starts to make it feel real.

Set realistic targets and work out your career objectives

Changing career can sometimes mean taking a pay cut so get your finances in order.

Set yourself a ‘to do list’ and tackle a task a day - signing up for job alerts is a great way of keeping you notified of new jobs in the industry you would like to get into.

Remain positive - many people change careers - if they can do it, you can do it.

With any job search there will be highs and lows - so don’t let rejection get you down and learn from each set back.

You may not have the relevant experience to change your career but focus on the skills you personally do have along with your determination to do the job you really do want to do and embrace your uniqueness - none of the other applicants will have the same experience that you do.

Inform the potential employer of your transferable skills and where your passion for the job comes from.

So whether you’re going to change your career or just explore your career options, get started by uploading your CV and browse through the latest jobs available today.
